The day of birth of the giant and scientist Nikola Tesla, 10th July, this year is celebrated through various lectures, exhibitions, experiments, tours and other interesting events. The 125th anniversary of Tesla`s arrival in Belgrade is celebrated under the name "Tesla in Serbia, Serbia in Tesla". This genius will mark the whole month of July, and events inspired by his life and work will be organized throughout Serbia.
Tesla Days 2017 allow visitors to time travel with Nikola Tesla, the original gift - a souvenir, your photograph where you are together with Tesla, access to one of the old hydroelectric power plants of Electric Power Industry of Serbia or participate in one of the numerous workshops that will show the finds of the legendary scientist.
The manifestation is organized for the fourth time in a row, and this year`s edition will be festive because of the jubilee - 125th anniversary of Tesla`s arrival in Belgrade. He visited the capital on 2nd June 1892 and he left significant mark on the whole electrification and industrialization of Serbia.
The manifestation Tesla`s days is part of the route of the Tesla Roads through Serbia which primarily includes the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, then Belgrade from the point of view of Nikola Tesla - everything that Tesla saw and visited when he visited Belgrade in 1892, Negotin as the birthplace of Djordje Stanojevic and 10 small old hydroelectric power plants of Electric Power Industry of Serbia, which are authentic mini museums created largely thanks to the great friendship and cooperation between Tesla and Stanojevic. The Tesla Roads are also the Museum of Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj in Sremska Kamenica, Tesla's favorite poet, then the Sisatovac monastery, where Tesla`s love for pigeons came from, as well as the Homeland complex of Mihajlo Idvorski Pupin, Tesla`s contemporary, friend and somewhat rivals.
The Nikola Tesla Museum on July 10th, celebrates 161 years of birth of this giant and organizes big exhibition and entry is free for all visitors.
Tesla Days manifestation is organized by the Culture Road Cluster, which integrates and connects over 40 cultural institutions, tourist organizations and agencies, businessmen and six faculties from Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia. The first such event was organized in 2014 and lasted for one day. After a successful premier, next year, the organization extended to six days and gathered a large number of visitors. The third in a row, Tesla Days of 2016 organized 50 events in 13 cities of Serbia, and over 300,000 visitors attended the great jubilee, 160 years since the birth of Nikola Tesla.
The creative and educational events in Tesla`s honour are organized by numerous members of the Cluster: Nikola Tesla Museum, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Tourist Organization of Serbia, Adrenalin escape rooms, Tourist Organization of Nis, Glob Metropolitan, Panacomp, Ethno Center Gegula, Balkan magnet souvenirs, Youth for tourism, as well as associates of the Cluster Sports Tourism Center Bajina Basta, the National Library in Novi Sad, the Association of Teachers of Vojvodina, the village Velebit near Subotica, the National Museum of Leskovac and the Association Tesla`s Tower from Leskovac and many others. Nikola Tesla was born on 10th July in 1856 in village Smiljan, and passed away on 7th January 1943 in New York. He was an intellectual and academician, one of the most famous Serbian inventors and scientists in physics, electrical engineering and radiocommunications who won numerous world recognitions. His greatest inventions are polyphase system, magnetic field, alternating current (AC) induction motor and Tesla`s transformer. He also discovered one of the ways to generate high-frequency current, provided an immeasurable contribution in the transmission and modulation of radio signals, and left a huge trace with his work in X-ray field.
His AC system has enabled easier and more efficient transmission of electric power at a distance. He played a key role during the construction of the first hydroelectric power plant on Niagara Falls. Nikola Tesla is the only Serb after whom an international unit of measure was named, a unit of measure for the magnetic flux density or the magnitude of the magnetic field - Tesla. He is the author of more than 700 patents, 112 in the field of electrical engineering, registered in 25 countries. He passed away in his 87th year, poor and forgotten by many.
