Nikola Tesla was born on 10th July, 1856 in Smiljan. Died on 7th January, 1943 in New York. Scientist innovator, with creativity focused on electrical engineering and radio engineering. Nikola Tesla's inventions that changed the planet are the rotating magnetic field, the system of alternating current, the main role in the construction of the first hydroelectric power plant at Niagara Falls, Tesla coil, work in the field of x-rays, asynchronous motor, synchronous motor...

The only Serb after whom the international unit of measurement for magnetic flux density or magnetic B-field strength was named - tesla. Holder of more than 700 patents in the field of electrical engineering registered in 25 countries.

Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade

The only museum in the whole world that houses the original and personal legacy of Nikola Tesla. The collection of priceless exhibits includes more than 160,000 copies of original documentation, two thousand books and magazines, over a thousand historic-technical exhibits, over 1,500 photographs and glass photo-plates, as well as over a thousand plans and drawings.

The Nikola Tesla Museum in Vracar was opened on 20th October, 1955. Since then, until now, it has not ceased to fascinate audiences from the city, the country, the region, and the world. Quality guided tours bring the magnificent story of a unique scientist closer to every visitor. In addition to his works and achievements, by coming to this address you get the opportunity to hear stories about his private life. How fascinated he was with the number three, that he avoided talking to women wearing pearls, fondness for a dove, and more. You will also find out why he did not win the Nobel Prize, but also how unfairly he left this world, lonely and poor.

Nikola Tesla Days 2024

From 27th June to 15th July, the Tesla Science Foundation from Philadelphia and its daughter organization, on the occasion of twenty years of work, are organizing the event "Nikola Tesla Days 2024 - 20 years of preserving Tesla's legacy". This year's program is realized in the area of ​​Gracanica, Belgrade and Novi Sad.

The complete program takes place under the auspices of the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, and some activities are carried out in cooperation with Matica Srpska from Novi Sad, the Ilija Kolarc Endowment and the Association of Serbian Journalists from Belgrade.

On the day of Tesla's birthday, on Wednesday, 10th July, from 10:00 to 14:00, the Press Center of the Association of Serbian Journalists will discuss the topic of misuse of Tesla's name, the Tesla People project and the Nikola Tesla Clubs.

As part of the accompanying program, until 15th July, an exhibition will be held in the Nikola Radosevic Gallery, where paintings, sculptures and photographs inspired by Nikola Tesla will be displayed. The authors of the exhibits come from America, Russia, Cuba, Israel, Serbia and surrounding countries.

The end of this year's manifestation will be marked by a donor appreciation evening at the Palace Hotel on the evening of 10th July, when the organizers will thank everyone who has been making the story of Nikola Tesla available to everyone for decades.

Exhibition The most significant moments in the life of Nikola Tesla in Zemun

On 10th July, from 20:00, the Cubrilo Art Gallery on Gardos becomes the Zemun area where Tesla's birthday will be marked. This city municipality has been celebrating Nikola Tesla's birthday for twelve years through a special event.

Vladimir Jelenkovic and Zoran Jovanovic Jus prepared an exhibition of photographs showing essential moments from Tesla's life: first job in New York, discoveries, first patent, lectures, travels and the only visit to Serbia, awards and more. Walk up to the Millennium Tower and witness the 168th birthday celebration of a man whose time on earth will forever be an important topic.
